"The beads lose the vain grammar of jewellery and adornment, rather adjusting to some cocooning barrier. And I can't help but think of it as alleviation. Not that this process makes me feel at peace, but that the beads can no longer be marvelled over and reduced to how they look, rather considered for how they function. It's like, suddenly, someone is going to quieten and the beads can finally breathe without being muffled by a settler."
